Writing Distractons

Okay, I'll admit it: I didn't write a lick yesterday. I meant to. Honest. But it just didn't happen.

I meant to finish the laundry and other chores, hop into bed with my trusty laptop, and write away. I had in mind only to check the 2012 political elections every now in then.

Yeah, that didn't happen.

Not only did I not get the laundry done before bedtime (which was after midnight- eep!), but I didn't write, either. I hardly left my computer and the election coverage. Instead I white-knuckled the whole ride until Obama was announced the winner. Oh, if only I had champagne (and wasn't pregnant- that helps too)!

Somehow in my area there was a huge write-in. I don't know how people can write on election night, but somehow they did it. Kudos to them! I could not.

Which brings me to the point of this post: What really distracts you as a writer (or even a reader)? What keeps you from the book? For me it was election night. And facebook. But other stuff isn't really distracting. For me, writing is a treat that I haven't yet tired of...so I don't need extra motivation to write anymore.

As always this month, Happy NanoWrimo 2012!
